Bio
When and if I blog, I mostly do it over at my own site, Enemy of Entropy, although I do cross-post here. You may also go there to comment. Nothing is friends-locked, because honestly, I don't trust that supposed security measure anyway. I don't put anything online if it would bother me to have any particular person read it. Really, I don't put much anywhere right now.

Always be ready to speak your mind and a base man will avoid you. (William Blake)

If you choose to read my journal, you'll find that I am highly opinionated and outspoken, and do not suffer fools gladly. If you're easily offended, I suggest that you find other material to read—the back of cereal boxes, Family Circus, B.C., etc. Other than keeping truly private things off the 'net entirely, I am the same person here as I am in the rest of my life. I do not just use my journal as place to just post about happy, bouncy, or easy things.

I live in the metro Atlanta area. My pre-disability professional background was in software QA, technical writing, and lots of other geeky stuff. (I did a LOT of other stuff earlier in my life, too.) In late 1999, I got a job at this great internet-related company (that's now part of Google) doing things I loved with neat people working for a great guy. I already had arthritis and fibromyalgia, but shortly after a fall early in 2000, I was totally disabled. The company and my boss, in particular, were incredibly supportive and understanding (thank you, DoubleClick!)

So my primary focus now is on getting better and enjoying shadowkatt, my daughter's, company, who is living nearby while attending college.

I'm the founder and maintainer of disabledstudent. I founded dot_gimp_snark, but teal_cuttlefish is She Who Must Be Obeyed there for now, and I bless the bytes over which she communicates.

I don't have a "friends list." I have a "reading list." My friends know who they are, and I don't like the emotional weight placed on the "friends list" concept. I can't remember the last time I locked a post, so if you wish to read for whatever reason, don't worry about missing anything if I don't add you to my reading list.

If any man is able to convince me and show me that I do not think or act right, I will gladly change; for I seek the truth by which no man was ever injured. But he is injured who abides in his error and ignorance. (Marcus Aurelius)
